Six Practical Tips for Managing Dyspraxia (DCD) at Work

  1. Use assistive technology, such as speech-to-text, templates, digital planners, and task management tools, to reduce fine motor and executive load.
  2. Externalise organisation. Keep plans visible — digital boards, written agendas, or visual task lists.
  3. Ask for clarity. Written instructions, step-by-step guidance, and examples support task initiation and accuracy.
  4. Manage energy, not just time Plan demanding tasks when your energy is highest.
  5. Reduce unnecessary motor demands Where possible, use typing instead of handwriting and ergonomic setups to support posture and endurance.
  6. Advocate for reasonable adjustments. Small adjustments can have a significant impact on performance and wellbeing.

I support adults to identify what specifically makes work harder, and then develop targeted strategies, tools, and adjustments that reduce unnecessary load and support their strengths in the workplace. Please do reach out if you need some extra support.
